Pray
All of the work that The Warehouse does is undergirded and preceeded by intentional communal prayer. While we aim for excellence in our development work, we are also aware that prayer is at the heart of our strategy, relationships and structures. It is the engine behind all we do. We don't have all the resources to adequately resolve the issues of poverty, but we root ourselves in the principles and practices of prayer and see what God leads us to in response.
Equip
The Warehouse team is involved in equipping the broader church to effectively reach the suffering in ways that uphold dignity and are sustainable. We do this through workshops, mentoring, support groups, training and various other forms of sharing of information, experience and skill. The Social Development training team and social workers from the various programmes equip church and NGO leaders, community and church members and anybody who wishes to learn how to effectively serve in the area of community development.
Mobilise
Whilst there are many giants facing our nation, the Church's ability to radically impact the levels of poverty and suffering is unmatched. The Warehouse serves the broader church in moving from a place of lethargy to compassion and then to action that is effective and shows the love of Christ. Many resourced people are eager to help, but not sure where to start. We help link these people to communities in mutually beneficial relationships that are sacrificial and sustainable.
Innovate
As the issues related to poverty, suffering and increasing divides in our nation are complex, so are the solutions. The Warehouse seeks God for creative and innovative ideas for effectively empowerng the Church in its response to poverty and injustice. Fusion's approach to impacting high risk youth in gang-dominated areas is one example of this. Another, is the unique response developed by the Care for Kids team to the growing numbers of orphaned children in South Africa.
Advocate
Speaking up for and on behalf of those whose voice has been quietened by society is part of The Warehouse's mandate. We seek ways to plead on behalf of the poor, as well as those whose voice may not be heard due to unjust systems. We are committed to providing a channel of information that encourages, motivates and challenges the Church to take Isaiah 58 to heart. The team also publicly recommends appropriate actions and provides a dynamic forum by gathering like-minded individuals and communities.
